Gore's response to the cowards

A bunch of us have been blogging about conservatives who would surrender their rights in order to assuage their overwhelming fear. "Give me liberty or give me death" has no meaning to these fools as they cower in fear under their beds.
It's not just that they won't fight the war they claim is so crucial to the fate of the world, prefering to send others to their deaths. They are also cowards for enabling and defending Bush's efforts to tear up the Constitution.
I'm sure they didn't like it, but Gore had words for them too:
Fear drives out reason. Fear suppresses the politics of discourse and opens the door to the politics of destruction. Justice Brandeis once wrote: "Men feared witches and burnt women."
The founders of our country faced dire threats. If they failed in their endeavors, they would have been hung as traitors. The very existence of our country was at risk.
Yet, in the teeth of those dangers, they insisted on establishing the Bill of Rights.
Is our Congress today in more danger than were their predecessors when the British army was marching on the Capitol? Is the world more dangerous than when we faced an ideological enemy with tens of thousands of missiles poised to be launched against us and annihilate our country at a moment's notice? Is America in more danger now than when we faced worldwide fascism on the march-when our fathers fought and won two World Wars?
It is simply an insult to those who came before us and sacrificed so much on our behalf to imply that we have more to be fearful of than they. Yet they faithfully protected our freedoms and now it is up to us to do the same.

It's time for the cowards to find a backbone and emerge from under their beds. It's not that scary out here. Our country has faced far more dire straits and survived.
I agree. We can't let fear drive us into holes in the ground. It's time to fight back!

Gore is a hypocrite. Perhaps you forgot that he and Clinton also spied on American citizens.
Perhaps I did because I don't remember anything about that. Got any proof or is it one of those GOP accusations to make themselves look better? Like when they accused the Democrats of taking money from abramoff when they did not, or when Bush said that all of congress had access to the same information he did before going to war with Iraq. Turns out both of those were direct lies.
